Where to eat on the beautiful island of Xiaoliuqiu if You are Plant-based?
Many yogis are vegetarian or follow a nearly plant-based diet since it improves their performance and recovery. We're seeing an increase in inquiries about vegetarian alternatives on the Facebook group Xiaoliuqiu for Foreigners, which suggests that many people are interested in this topic.
I enjoy a variety of vegetables and fruits. However, unless I bring someone who has dietary restriction, I don't usually go out looking for pure vegetarian food on the island. However, recently, one of my massage certification course students asked me about vegetarian options, so we have gathered some information.
However, the definition of a vegetarian in Taiwan may differ from yours due to the presence of little pieces of meat or lard in meals, or soups cooked in bone broth or using eggs/dairy.
Vegans, in particular, will have a difficult time here unless they bring their own cooking equipment, which isn't so bad because there are plenty of delicious veggies available at the wet market or on the roadside by local vendors, much of it produced on the island. We are planning a tiny kitchen area in our guest house (we are gonna launch the google map listing soon so that you can find us online!) for you guys who want to cook anything you desire if you have an absolutely strict diet restriction.

They also offer a variety of 9 different types of noodles in their soup and stir-fried dishes, as well as soup noodles and stir-fried noodles. According to my student, this restaurant is vegan-friendly. It's located on the island's only post office.

When I lived in the city I would visit these types of restaurants as it was a convenient way to have a quick and tasty meal with a lot of choices. For these types of buffet/bento restaurants, you simply go in, pick up a tray or takeaway box, check out dishes that have no meat or fish in them, and put what you want and how much you want on your plate with rice or noodle. Sometimes they serve hot soup as well.

The restaurant has only been open for a few months, and it is extremely Instagram-friendly. Vegetarian beef noodle soup and mushroom rice are available. Their aiyu jelly desserts, which are formed like our sea turtles, are beautiful.

Hard Rock Gastropub you could just order veggie fried rice, salad and french fries. Good Thai has Thai-style stir-fried veggies, papaya salad and mushroom soup with galangal and lemongrass.
There is no such thing as a "gluten-free" restaurant on the island. Despite this, gluten-free food isn't particularly fashionable in the Taiwanese community. However, rice noodle dishes are frequently gluten-free at Taiwanese restaurants. Gluten-free consumers should steer clear of dumplings since the wrappings are composed of flour. Another thing to consider is whether or not the coating used for deep fried foods is flour-based or if it's only made with sweet potato flour or other non-gluten flours. Stay tuned for a list of gluten-free eating establishments in another blog post!
